  WHAT WE OFFER

School of the air in action

Tutors
Volunteer tutors spend between six and twelve weeks each year in the outback.
In most cases they stay with one family for six weeks. They liaise with the child's School of Distance Education and provide one-to-one tutoring with the students in their own home. They also provide a friendly supportive role on ways the family might best enhance the education of their children.

Home Computer Assistance
These are skilled Internet practitioners with the specific task of introducing the use of Internet technology. For general information regarding Internet to the Outback please send a message to itto@vise.org.au

Angels

Sometimes a family needs the help of a non-teacher. These volunteers  respond to a definite need and will prepare meals, get the washing done, answer the phone and watch younger children so that the parent can concentrate on the school room. Angels can be requested if there is a new baby, a medical emergency or some kind of real stress.

Parents
VISE is an organization that reacts to requests for assistance rather than seeks out those who need or want help. We can only do our work when asked. The request may come from the child's school or from the family. All requests should come through the Local Area Committee Representative.
Applications for assistance must be on the approved form (Word Format).
Reading this form will also help parents to understand the needs of the tutor/s when they come to visit.
